Winer, Dave

Reading over the chapter on Dave Winer was very interesting. I think as he moved his way through the progressing web he discovered, as most people do, that you have to change with it. I felt it was very interesting how he used it as a forum for personal and business issues. He may have been better off keeping them as seperate entities but it is very hard to keep work and personal seperate for most people. He seemed to get a lot of responses for his programs through his website that may have been clouded by his personal rants. He may have lost a lot of potential business that way. Also on the other hand, people that were following his personal blogging stories may have been confused by the program talk.
In other words he suffered the error of some many others by mixing (or attempting to) his personal life with his professional and he could have had it so much easier if he would have not done so.
I do believe that he was attempting to discover how best to use the web for himself and the best way to do that is via trial and error. It was very interesting to read through how he did things and how it worked out for him.
