This chapter seems like it has a similar message.  The blog or as they called it in full name, the weblog was / is a place for people to voice their opinions and private thoughts about a topic or specific item without much censoring or policing, but there are consequences to doing so.  Emails like other comments, can end up in the wrong hands by accident and it can cause all sorts of problems.  But I actually remember being able to create an email list with people just inside the office that could be a part of a select group who received specific information and could discuss it without meeting face to face.  It was very exciting but back then I mostly used email lists and the sort for work purposes.  It is still very important today to have the advances and ability we have with publishing information but there does need to be some kind of monitoring so people cannot publish things that shouldn't be without the proper permission.  Blogging and sending out info to people you already have on a list is fine, just watch what you are putting out there.
