It's kind of impossible to imagine the internet without email. I can remember going into middle school and desperately wanting an email address - after all, all the cool kids had email addresses. To think it all started with someone who named a network after himself and used it to send messages to friends and business partners makes it even more amazing. Without DaveNet, it's rather hard to imagine where the internet would be today - or who would be on it. Eventually, some one would have to have smartened up and creaked a messaging service, but DaveNet begs the question : what would the internet have been like if email had started much, much later? Would it be as easily accessible as it has become, or would it have become a hacker only space, something that was rarely ventured into by the typical person?
