Net Art

Net art has opened up the opportunity to showcase work to more people by more artists.  Although, the main form of display is the Internet, it is still important to be able to have these works of art shown in museums.  Not everyone has a computer or access to the Internet so they are excluded from viewing the art.  If in a museum, they can preserve the art form as technology improves and the older forms become obsolete.  I think the types of art that have been shown allows the artist to really challenge what is considered traditional art forms.  As technology continues to evolve it will be interesting to see how artists adapt and take advantage of any new technology.  I do like Wolfgang Staehl’s Empire 24/7, it is simple yet very moving in the different moods created from one subject.
