Ch 2. Dave Winer - Nate Ungrodt
I think it's fairly enlightening that in the early days, Dave Winer's email list was so important to him because it gave him an avenue to his colleagues that gave him the ability to "circumvent the media". He wanted the ability to connect directly with others in his field of interest and profession. Following along the same line of thought from Chapter One of the book, the internet, email, and DaveNet were born out of the need for direct, unadulterated human connection. It is easy to see in hind sight that the success of social media sites was all but written in stone. Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Blogger... all of these sites are the next logical progression of this concept: tools that allow the average user to add content and connect it interested viewers easily and immediately. It makes me wonder what the next step will be.
